Being invited to present at the Royal Brompton Global Grand Round, led by the exceptional Professor Eric Lim, definitely felt to me like starting 2025 on a blast.

This platform has long been a beacon of global medical excellence, bringing together world-leading clinicians to discuss the future of healthcare. Eric started it in the Pandemic so that the learning for doctors could be provided throughout 2020, and every year, it has been getting bigger and more global. He is now on season 5.

To take centre stage and share insights on the future of cancer care—a subject that has defined so much of my work—such an honour. His virtual grand rounds for 2025 can be found here, and if you wanted to have a listen to what I said- click here.

One of the most striking aspects of this event was its global reach. Across the world, teams gathered in lecture halls and doctors office to listen.

And, beyond centres of excellence, in Burma, Vietnam, South America, clinicians crowded around screens—hanging onto every word of cutting-edge UK science. They joined from hospital corridors, internet cafés, and community hubs, determined to bring the best of British medicine to their own patients. The hunger for knowledge, the urgency to improve care, was incredible to witness.

I used my talk to explain that a new future is coming—one where every patient we treat today is helping the next patient receive an even better outcome tomorrow. This is the future of cancer care:

✅ AI-driven medicine—transforming clinical trials, diagnosis, and personalised care.

✅ Genomics & mRNA—delivering precision therapies, including the cancer vaccines I’ve worked to advance.

✅ Ever-improving outcomes—where real-time learning accelerates breakthroughs in ways we’ve never seen before.

We are stepping into a world where research moves at unprecedented speed. Where UK-led clinical trials are setting global standards. Where every patient interaction becomes an opportunity to refine, improve, and innovate.

🇬🇧 The UK Leading the Way

As National Senior Clinical Advisor for Cancer Vaccines, Medical Director of the Ellison Institute of Technology, and Medical Oncologist at Oxford University, I see this transformation happening firsthand. The UK is at the forefront—not just in developing breakthroughs, however, also in delivering them to patients faster and more effectively than ever before.

💬 A Speech That Resounded

The response to my talk was overwhelming. The feedback was powerful, filled with reflections on how this vision of the future is reshaping what is possible in cancer care. Hearing from colleagues, both in the UK and globally, about how these ideas resonated was truly humbling.

Because in the end, this isn’t just about science—it’s about patients.

It’s about the mother who sees her son grow up because her treatment worked. The father who gets to walk his daughter down the aisle because his cancer was caught early. The patient who thought there was no future—only to find themselves thriving in a world where science and technology delivered what once seemed impossible.

This isn’t just a vision. It’s happening.

🚀 And I was honoured to share that message at the Royal Brompton Global Grand Round. Have a listen and tell me what you think. :)
